hey friends! i know that some of you noticed i was notably absent from posting on the blog, facebook + twitter over the past week. apologies if you worried that i fell off the face of the earth, but i was actually enjoying an amazing vacation to Italy with my husband! i’d planned to tell you about it before we left, but between packing, last-minute errands, + tying up loose ends, i ran out of time.
the good news is that i’m back! the trip was truly wonderful + the insanely delicious food has really inspired me to try some new types of cooking + baking. i’ll do a recap post of our trip (including lots of food pics) over the next few days, but for now, i just wanted to say hello + tell you that i missed blogging + connecting with you all. italy was amazing, but it’s always nice to be back home after a vacation. i’m so looking forward to catching up + reconnecting with you all!
we have lots of pictures to go through, but i wanted to give you a quick preview. above is the gorgeous ponte vecchio in florence. the first picture below is a view of the colosseum from the ground looking straight up, + second one is me doing a victory leap when we arrived to a breathtaking winery in montepulciano. you know i love my wine. =) i like that you can see the shadow of my husband taking the pic. how fun is that? more pics to come over the next few days!

Welcome back! Sounds like you guys had a blast. Can’t wait to see more pictures and read your stories; Italy is on top of our list of places we want to go (someday, when Baby Boy is older!)
surprisingly, italy is pretty kid-friendly, especially florence, which has lots of pedestrian-only areas + is very walkable. we saw tons of kids / strollers while we traveled + even had a couple infants + toddlers on our overseas flights. they did awesome! we’ll definitely have to talk when you + your wife plan your trip someday!
Sounds wonderful! I can’t wait to hear more about your great trip!! I hope to visit Italy someday!
it’s absolutely one of my favorite places in the world. this was my second time going + i loved it even more this time than i did the first time around. the food, culture, + all the sights are just breathtaking!
yes. most definitely more photos! sounds like a wonderful trip. welcome back.
i’m planning a couple picture posts, + definitely one devoted to just the food. it was amazing!
Welcome back!! So glad you enjoyed a “social media free” vacation with your husband :-). Can’t wait to hear more about the trip and see more photos!
thanks, EA! i have to say, i didn’t know if i’d like not having constant access to email/internet, but i did! it was nice to just focus on the surrounding people + places + enjoy the vacation. a tech-free vacation apparently *is* a good thing!
how fun!! Looking forward to reading the recap post of your trip and drooling over all of your food pics.
i just started looking through them + i’m seriously drooling over them right now. you just can’t beat real italian food! =)
Oh, I’m SO excited to hear all about your trip! We’d love to make it to Italy someday, but for now, I’ll live vicariously through you! Glad you had a great time and made it home safely.
aww, thanks so much ashley. it was a great trip, but i’m happy to be home. i honestly did miss chatting with all my foodie friends (like you)! i’d definitely recommend italy as a future trip for you + the family – it’s a great time, + like i said to chris in an earlier comment, surprisingly kiddo-friendly, especially in the smaller cities + towns.
gorgeous photos! I cannot wait to see more I’m turning green with envy over here…
thank you so much! i’m having fun looking through the pics – we got some really great ones, especially of the food. will definitely be posting more here soon! =)
Wow, that was a quick trip! So glad you had a blissful time and I cannot wait to see the pics. When we got back from our Italy honeymoon and sifted through the pictures we’d taken more than 50 of just the food, haha. I’d never eaten that well in my life though.
Cannot wait to hear more about your trip! And I’m so glad you’re back sweet friend
we were gone for just about a week + it flew by! since i’m a food blogger + my husband is an architecture, our pictures are almost all of the food + the architecture. =) i bet you had a wonderful time there on your honeymoon – it’s such a romantic place. thanks for your sweet words as always, ally. =)
so glad you had fun! Italy is on my list of places to visit!!
thanks, natalie! when you decide to go, let me know + i can give you lots of great restaurant + shopping recommendations. =)
I bet you guys had an amazing time!!
we did, we did! i think you’re going to the taste of nashville event on friday, too, right? we’ll have to share some stories with you there. =)
Welcome Home! I can’t wait for your upcoming posts. You know I am a big fan of your photography.
that is so kind, renee! some of the food pictures turned out great, so i can’t wait to share ’em with you all. =)
I’m jealous as Italy (Rome & Tuscany) is on my travel wish list! Can’t wait to hear all about it! Welcome back…glad you had a fun and safe trip…
wendy, you would *love* italy. i’ve been to a bunch of different european countries, + italy + spain are my top two favorites. italy has a great combination of amazing food, wonderful sites, + great cultural/history. look for some food pics to be posted over the next week or so!
How fun!!! I can’t wait to hear more. My husband and I are going on a Mediterranean cruise this summer, and we’re stopping in 3 different cities in Italy. I can’t wait! If you have any tips on places to check out, I’d love to hear them!
i bet that cruise is going to be absolutely amazing! i’ll send you an email tomorrow to get more info on the cities you’re visiting + will send you some tips on places that we loved. =)
Missed you! I am so jealous of your trip and I bet the sights and food was simply extraordinary! Great pictures, can not wait to hear more about your trip!
aww, thanks steph! i missed chatting with all of you + following your blogs, too. although i do have to say that it was great to have a tech-free vacation for the first time in ages. i got so much time to connect with people + really take in everything around me. an awesome experience!
glad to hear you guys had a good trip. my husband & i went a few years ago and had the most amazing time, we visited rome & florence as well. we also went to the cinque terre area which i highly recommend for your next visit!
i’ve heard that cinque terre is absolutely amazing! if we had more time, i would’ve loved to visit. now, it’s a good excuse to go back to italy again so we can check it out. =)
Looks like an amazing trip! Italy is on my bucket list!! Someday…………
it’s one of the coolest places i’ve ever been. and the food, oh the food! definitely worthy of a travel bucket list. =)
Yay! Glad you are back! And why am I not following you on twitter yet? I will be fixing this shortly!
fixed! we are now twitter friends! =)
First I must say I LOVED Italy, really, really loved it. The food was amazing, the people warm and friendly and the sites are breathtaking. You must go back when you are pregnant *if that is in the cards. They love their mammas and I was treated like a queen everywhere I went.
Second, I’m new to the SRC and found your blog through it. You have some delicious recipes that I’m intrigued to check out. I’d care to say you are doing a great job at homemaking
PS. your apron is too cute!
awesome to meet you, aimee! isn’t italy amazing? i can’t wait to get back there. + thanks for the good tip about going back while pregnant – that is definitely in the cards for us in the future. =) yay for meeting new foodie friends through the SRC!
